What I Can Do For You
My Services
My office provides professional self-help services at our specific discretion. A legal document assistant is not a lawyer. Although I cannot select your forms or offer legal advice, I can offer self-help materials written or approved by attorneys to help you with your case. In the event that you need to seek legal advice or have legal questions, I can assist you in locating an attorney that can help you with your questions.
What is the difference between a Legal Document Assistant and a Paralegal?
A paralegal also known as a legal assistant, is a professional who is qualified by education and training to assist attorneys in providing legal services. Paralegals do not work independently for consumers. Instead, they are employed by contract with an attorney. A legal document assistant (LDA) is an experienced professional who is authorized under the State of California law to prepare legal documents for consumers. However, an LDA is not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice or represent individuals in court. LDA’s have the same educational background as a paralegal and are required by law to be registered and bonded in the county in which they have their principal place of business.
